Do the rooms have air conditioning?
Yes, most of our guest rooms have air conditioning. If you wish to book a room with air conditioning, select the additional option when booking.
Is the reception staffed 24 hours per day?
Yes, the front desk is staffed 24 hours per day, so You can check –in or check-out anytime without a problem.
What are the times for check-in and check-out?
Your room is ready for occupation generally at 2 p.m. On Your departure we kindly ask to vacate Your room by 11 a.m. However, if You departure time is later on that day we deposit your luggage in our luggage room. Of course we deposit Your luggage on the day of Your arrival as well, if you arrive before Your room is ready to move in to.
Are the rooms quiet or is there traffic noise?
The Hotel Ludwig is situated right in the heart of downtown Cologne. However the surrounding streets are traffic calmed without through traffic. So You can rest easily and quiet. Nevertheless please consider that a million-resident-metropolis could be noisy from time to time.
Which room type shall I book?
If You emphasize a very calm room with air conditioning, roof terrace, or a marvellous cathedral view we recommend our rooms with balcony. If You set value on a at grade accessible shower area with solid grab handles please let us know when you book your room. Whether You attach importance to having a separate bedroom or You planning a longer stay we recommend our “Ludwig Suite”.
Do I need a credit card form my reservation?
No, on many dates you do not need accredit card to reserve Your room. On dates where we only accept guaranteed reservations you need a credit card.
Where can I park my car and how much does it cost?
You can park Your car at our own secured and locked parking garage (approx. 200 meters distance to the Hotel) or in the large modern public Car Park “RheinTriadem” which is fitted with CCTV system. Both parking places cost 20,- € per day.
Is there anything to adhere to when arriving by car?
If You are travelling to Cologne by car please keep to the speed limit. In Cologne are many radar speed checks.

What’s the fastest way from the Hotel to the fairgrounds “KölnMesse”?
The fastest way to the fairgrounds is by using the Suburban train (S-Bahn) Trains from the main station (platform 10) to Köln Messe/Deutz, one stop. Directly in front of this station you will find the entrance to the fairgrounds. If you are traveling by car or by cab cross the river Rhine over the zoo bridge and take the first exit. If traffic is good you will need approx. 5 min. Walking distance to the fairground is approx. 30 min.
Is smoking allowed in the guest rooms?
No. If You want to smoke please book our rooms with balcony. Smoking is allowed on the balcony, or use our designated smoking area in front of the hotel or our litlle smoking terrasse.
How much does the breakfast cost and what are the breakfast times?
Our rich and fresh breakfast buffet starts weekdays at 6:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday the breakfast buffet starts at 7 a.m. and on Sunday we offer a champagne breakfast buffet with no additional costs. For late risers we offer a small breakfast even after this breakfast times. Breakfast costs 12,00 € per Person if not included in room rate.
How can I book an extra bed?
The Hotel Ludwig does not offer uncomfortable cots just real beds e.g. in a triple room. Just book Your triple room online.
Is there any discount for children?
Children up to 4 years rest free of costs in the bed of their parents. For children older than 4 years we recommend to reserve a triple room.
What are the costs for using the wireless internet in the hotel?
Using the wireless internet is free of costs for our guests in the entire hotel.
Are pets allowed?
No, here at the Hotel Ludwig pets are not allowed, because more and more guest suffer from allergies. We recommend accommodating Your pet in a pet hotel while traveling.
